How do I turn on the keyboard?

Open Hboard and follow Get Started. It opens Hboard’s page in Settings: tap Keyboards, turn on Hboard and Allow Full Access, then return to the app. In any app, touch and hold the globe key and choose Hboard.

Why does the keyboard need Full Access?

To read the clip history the app keeps and to sync clips through your own iCloud account. Without Full Access the keyboard still types; it just can’t show your history. It never sends what you type anywhere.

Why should I set Paste from Other Apps to Allow?

A keyboard can’t show the iOS paste prompt, so iOS silently stops it reading the clipboard unless Hboard is allowed to paste. Copy something, tap Paste in Hboard once and choose Allow Paste; then Paste from Other Apps appears on Hboard’s page in Settings, where you can set it to Allow.

What does Save What You Copy do?

When it’s on, the keyboard saves what you last copied each time it opens and shows “Saved to Hboard”. It’s off until you turn it on, and it never saves from password fields or copies from password managers.

How do I change the case of some text?

Select the text while using the Hboard keyboard. The suggestion bar offers Capitalize, lowercase and UPPERCASE; tap one to change it. Turn this off in Settings › Typing › Case Changes.

What does Insights show?

How much you type, how fast and when, from counts the keyboard keeps: never the words themselves. Clip Finds gathers the links, addresses, codes and plans in your clips, worked out on your device. Turn either off, or reset Insights, in Settings › Insights.

My clips aren’t syncing

Check that you’re signed in to iCloud with the same Apple Account on each device and that Sync with iCloud is on in Hboard’s Settings, which also shows any sync problem. Very large images and files stay on the device that saved them.

How do I save without the keyboard?

Copy something, then tap Paste in Hboard. You can also save in one tap from the Home Screen or Lock Screen widget, Control Center, a Live Activity, or by asking Siri to “Save clipboard to Hboard”.

How does it work on the Mac?

Hboard lives in the menu bar and, once you agree in the setup window, saves what you copy. Press ⇧⌘V, pick a clip and press Return to paste it. Open Hboard to browse your whole history in its own window; it shows in the Dock while the window is open, unless you keep it there with Hide Dock Icon Automatically turned off in Settings.

Pasting on the Mac doesn’t work

Hboard needs Accessibility permission to press ⌘V for you (System Settings › Privacy & Security › Accessibility). If it’s already on but pasting still fails, an older copy of Hboard may be the one allowed: select Hboard there, click the minus button, then open Hboard and allow it again. Without the permission, picking a clip copies it instead.

How do I delete my history?

Delete any clip by swiping it on iPhone and iPad, or from its menu on the Mac, or clear everything on all your devices from Settings. To remove Hboard’s iCloud data, go to Settings › your name › iCloud › Manage Storage.

Which devices are supported?

iPhone and iPad with iOS 17 or later, and Mac with macOS 14 or later. Control Center controls need iOS 18 or later. Summaries by Apple Intelligence need a device with Apple Intelligence. The app and keyboard are in English.
